Updated Portland-Minnesota Trade Idea

UPDATED VERSION:

Minnesota doesn't have an extra roster spot and since Ricky Davis has been traded once already, he cannot be traded with any other players under the provisions of the new CBA.

Sooooo....we'd have to do something like this.

TRADE 1:

Sergei Monia to Minnesota for Richie Frahm (expiring contract, could be waived)

TRADE 2 (Immeadiately following the first deal-like the next day)

Rube and Detriot's first rounder for Ricky Davis

Why Minnesota might do this: They get a more defensive-minded SF plus a rookie prospect with upside and a pick for Ricky.

Why Portland does this: We get a starting-quality SF to continue subbing for Darius while he's hurt who can play the 2 and the 3, defend well, and knock down the outside shot. Once Darius returns, Ricky would then move into the 6th man role, which would work out very well for our team. ricky can be both an offensive and defensive sparkplug off the bench for the same money Rube makes now, and help revivie an anemic second unit while contributing to all aspects of the game. He has been labeled a headcase in the past, but so has Darius and he seems to have done well under Nate, so Ricky may respond similarly. Richie Frahm is included only as filler to make the trade work so he could either sit inactive or be waived-his contract's off the books at the end of the year so it doesn't matter.
