Atlanta Trade Idea

Portland Trades Zach Randolph and Charles Smith for Al Harrington and pick.

WHY: They get an All-Star caliber PF (he'd have a much easier time making it in the East). Best Case Scenario: We resign Al and get a quality PF. Worst Case Scenario: We lose Harrington to FA, but are still rid of Z-bo's enormous contract and have roughly 4 million in cap space this year or 13 million of cap space in 2007 if we don't do anything with it until then.Either way sounds good to me...

I don't like this trade as much because I hate the idea of unloading Zach without getting rid of Ruben as well. Besides Al Harrington has just as much of a contract as Randolph does.

this is a good trade but the atl says no b/c they wont want zach HUGE contract. now i know its the same as AH but atl has a chance of re-signing for less than hes making now

That is simply not true. Elton Brand was playing for Chicago when the Clippers drafted Darius. They acquired Brand one year after they drafted Miles. Also, Darius entered as a SF. Check nbadraft.net for proof. 6'9 is short for a PF. Miles also weighs a bit over 200lbs. He is a true SF. He weighs less than half of the SG's in the league.
