L: San Antonio Spurs 86, Blazers 82

Wow...this team has come really far really fast. A few months ago, this was the team that blew us out by 40. Now, we lose by four and take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Quite frankly, I'm impressed and thinkthat this team has the potential to make a run at .500, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here. This team still has issues, and the main ones I can think of right now are not making clutch free throws and Sebastian thinking he has been magically transformed into Ray Allen. I still like the kid, and am pulling for him to succeed, but there is nothing more fustrating then watching him go 1 for 6 and still keep jacking up rediculous shots even when he knows they aren't falling. At one point, there were 5 consecutive possesions in which Bassy took a quick shot, and the Blazers failed to score on 4 of them. This needs to stop if he's going to succeed/we are going to win. One positive, however, was that Theo, Joel and Z-Bo had beastly games yet again. Looking forward to what should amount to an intense game against a vastly improved Minnesota team on Friday.

beastly games?

zach randolph was 9 for 26 thats not beastly thats just selfish play... Zach looked emotional last night, he needs to learn that if ur mad about shooting badly then stop shooting and pass, he has improved this from last year no doubt, but i hate seeing him getting credit for scoring the game high after playing so terribly.

I'm beginning to think we may be better off without him

mmmm...I'd get rid of Sea Bass before him-but you do have a point. Expect a roster evalutaion on Z-Bo soon.

No we definately need Zach. And even though Bassy isnt playing a huge role in the Blazers winning right now wait until he gets a couple of months of injury free basketball under him (if that ever happens). He was starting to be able to knock down that outside shot with some consistancy before his thumb was injured. I think the only players the Blazers would be wise in trading this year are Ruben Patterson, Charles Smith, Ha, and possibly Segei Monia.

o yeah check your information on the 5 straight possesions where Bassy shot the ball because if im thinking about the same 5 possesions you are Travis Outlaw made a stupid fast break decision and Patterson dribbled the ball off his foot. But Sebastian did take 3 of the 5 shots which is not too great for the team until he can get to be consistant. At least he did make that 3 though that kind of redeemed himself not entirely though

kiefer you are an idiot. first we dont need z-bo as soon as we can, we unload him. z-bo isnt our 4 of the future...that would be sheldan williams from duke. second bassy couldnt hit shit from outside early in the season and we only started winning when he got hurt. i say we try to pull the trigger on the NYC trade again. and third who the hell would ever trade for charles smith or ha!!!!!!!!

Zach is a baller, pure and simple. He's coming of a serious surgery, and getting better every game. There's no way you get anywhere close to equal value for him. And would everyone shut the fuck up about Sheldon Williams. He's no better than Zach was coming out of college. BTW, if you want to talk about jacking up shot after shot, you have to mention Juan Dixon. He knew his shot wasn't dropping against Bowen, but that didn't stop him from trying.

oh and dude kiefer bassy hasn't had a consistent shot all season. he's had two good games, at new york and vs. orlando. 2 for 6 or similar does not qualify as consistent shooting. plus, he truns it over A LOT still. he may only have 2 turnovers, but when he only has one or two assists to go along with it isn't real good.

to back myself up....the reasons i belevie we should take shelden williams is b/c he is almost like z-bo only he knows when to pass. now is potenial isnt as good as zach's but shelden will hit right around 50% of his shoot b/c he knows when to shoot. Z-bo doesnt know when to shoot, when he gets angry he doesnt stop shooting and thats why he is shooting 44%. Z-bo has taken almost double (735) the amount of shoots than the next top shooter: Juan Dixon (427) i believe Shelden's career avg. will be right around 15 and 10. Zach's career avg. maybe be more in point (anywhere from 18-25) and less in rebounds (8-9) but we will never be able to shoot above 50% from the field. In addition Shelden will have more assists and block shoots in his career, Now if z-bo learns to pass the ball and not take all those crazy shots that he ALWAYS take, then i say we take a back-up 4 with our second rounder. Someone who can crash the boards and play d-fence like J.P Batista from Gonzaga or Justin Williams from Wyoming. Justin is an amazing defencive (sp) minded player. He is avg. 10 rpg and 5 pushing 6 bpg so he'll fit in great with nate's system. J.P is prolly the strongest guys to enter the draft in recent memory. If he gets invited to the pre-draft camp, he will break some records. J.P isnt as great of defender but no one will be able to box him out.

Well I just got back from polo and I am beat. I am currently doing some research and stumbled across your blog. Which makes me laugh really. The web can certainly land you off base sometimes. Even though your site is not completely related I think it is a nice blog. I have read back through the archives and lots of people make some good points. Golden Spur
