Roster Evaluation: Theo Ratliff

In recent weeks, Theo Ratliff has played his best ball as a Trail Blazer. He is still a top-notch defender and shot blocker, and has vastly improved his rebounding this year. he is also having a nice offensive season as well. When combined with Joel, he gives us what is arguably the best center rotation in the league in terms of defense and athletisim. His shot-blocking prowness allows him to compensate for many of our young perimeter defenders' mistakes. However, Theo is old and injury prone with a large contract. That being said, I still would not trade him for anything other than cap relief AND a top notch prospect, and not until we know for sure that Joel will enter next season as a Trail Blazer. If Theo continues to stay healthy, I will continue to expect good things and positive contributions to this team (and the occassional one-handed alley-oop like a man half his age Thunder dunk out) from him thtoughout the remainder of his time in Portland.

i think i would dump theo for a reasonable trade as long as Ha isn't our backup. I don't care if we have to make Zach play backup center and Darius play backup 4, we can't let Ha get significant minutes.
